At Play and Chat we offer a range of options for mobile therapy services including home, childcare centre and/or school visits. Please contact us to discuss the best option for your child/family.

Screening Assessment

If you're not too sure whether your child needs a full assessment or intervention then a screening assessment is a good place to start. These are brief assessments that help to inform your plan. A short, written summary of screening results is provided to families.

Assessment

Our speech pathologists can assess your child’s communication skills in order to determine their current abilities and make a plan on how to help. Each assessment is different and may include

• Chatting to caregivers about the child's strengths and challenges
• Making observations of the child communicating
• Completing assessments during play activities
• Formal assessments

The assessment will focus on your family's concerns and could include tasks to assess:

• Expressive language - how your child is speaking
• Receptive language - how your child is understanding what is said
• Speech - how your child is making speech sound
• Social communication - how your child is learning to interact with others
• Fluency - whether your child is stuttering.

You will be provided with a written report summarising the results and plan following the assessment session/s.

Intervention sessions

Therapy sessions can be scheduled regularly (e.g weekly, fortnightly, monthly) for a determined period (e.g 10 sessions) to target goals identified in your assessment session.
